It's been a while. I don't know if I just got tired of writing, or felt shoehorned by the title of my blog, but for whatever reason, I just plain stopped.
I last wrote two and a half years ago, in July 2011. A lot has happened since then, with the Bruins returning to defend their Cup title, losing to the Caps in the first round, Tim Thomas going insane and leaving the team, and, after Lockout #3 for Gary Bettman, coming to within 1 minute of forcing a Game 7 against the Blackhawks, but instead watching them skate around with the Cup on Garden Ice. Now we're back at it for 2013-14.
The Red Sox seemed to be on their way to an easy AL East title and a postseason appearance at last in 2011, but chicken, beer, and a whole lot of pitching ineptitude happened and Tito and Theo bore the brunt of the scapegoating. Bobby Valentine appeared and was even worse than expected, somehow, driving Youkilis out of town and making literally everyone in Boston hate him, and the Red Sox. Their worst finish since 1966 was followed by a major housecleaning, some fresh faces, and a 2013 AL Pennant. Rest assured, I'll be writing about the World Series in short order.
The Patriots were coming off of a horrendously disappointing home loss to Rex Ryan and the Jets in 2011, and questions were being raised about whether this was it for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Then they went 13-3, made it to the Super Bowl, only to lose in the last minute to the Giants AGAIN, and after another lackluster playoff showing and an AFC Championship Game Loss at home to the Ravens, Aaron Hernandez killing a dude and Gronk having eight million surgeries, we're back to wondering whether this is it for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. I have another post coming about them.
And as for me? Just this past winter, the GF and I pulled up our roots and moved from Boston (well, Somerville), to the Green Mountains. We're nestled in Montpelier, Vermont, which happens to be the state capital, as well as a city of less than 7,000 people. We're reasonably happy, all things considered, but it's been a big adjustment, which I'll use as another excuse as to why I haven't written in so long. But there's a lot going on, and I've had the itch to write again, so hopefully I can keep it up at least through the winter so I don't feel so worthless. But I doubt anyone out there is really reading anyway, so there.
And so! Off to the actual entries, and actual thoughts about actual things. Here we go.
